My friend looked at me with gorgeous blue tear filled eyes and said, “I’m a mess. One day I’ll get my shit together.”
It was like I was looking into a mirror. I have felt the same way. I have literally said the same words.
I replied, “You have your shit together in so many ways!!!”
But here’s the thing: Who cares if she doesn’t?
No one has their shit together.
Oh, look at you, all proud of yourself. You’re thinking maybe you’re the exception. Well, I’m sure you’ve had a moment when everything was amazing, and you thought you had your shit together, but then, guess what?
Shit doesn’t ever come together. It just keeps coming.
You know those people that you think have their shit together? They’re hiding their shit.
- When I was in my 20’s, I had a lot of crazy shit.
- Then, I turned 30, and in my 30’s, I started feeling so much better, but I still had shit.
- Now, I’m in my 40’s, and it’s awesome… and I still have shit.
- My mother is in her 80’s, and she still has shit.
We all have shit. No one has it together.
Don’t you want to stop trying to avoid shit? Don’t you want to stop trying to keep it together? Don’t you want to enjoy life a little more? Don’t you want to laugh at your shit?
Joan Rivers once said, “Life goes by fast. Enjoy it. Calm down. It’s all funny.”
Beautiful reader: You’ve got shit. We all have shit. STOP BEING MEAN TO YOURSELF BY TELLING YOURSELF TO GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER.
Please!!! Give yourself a break!!!
You don’t have to have your shit together.
You just need to have fun and enjoy your messy life.
You will figure that shit out.
